Black Type Designers; Missing in Action
Editorial
Printed on G.F. SMITH Plike 140gsm and G.F. SMITH Transclear 110 gsm. The project "Missing in Action" was developed through extensive research and ultimately aims to address the unequal representation of Black designers in the design industry. Inspired by Cheryl D. Holmes-Miller's article "Black Designers: Missing in Action?", this initiative highlights the cultural and historical significance of typefaces created by these designers. The project explores innovative applications and interpretations of these typefaces, positioning them within contemporary or alternative contexts while celebrating their rich origins. Through this work, I seek to raise awareness of the contributions of Black designers and foster a more inclusive narrative within the design community.
